The twin Lira carries two shades on one brass rod, set at staggered heights. Where a bedroom has a single ceiling outlet roughly central above the bed, this is how you get light on both sides without chasing a second cable through the plaster.
The asymmetry is deliberate and reads better than a matched pair would from a single point — one shade low enough to read by, one lifted to throw light back at the wall.
