Dining

Lighting a dining table is a narrower problem than lighting a room, and it has a right answer: one warm, low, glare-free source hung close enough to the surface that the light lands on the table and the people around it, not on the ceiling.

For a round table, a single Onda 20 cm sphere centred above it is usually all that is needed. For a long table or an island, either a row of three — Velo in amber is the warmest choice — or a twin-head fixture such as Orbe Twin, which covers the width from a single ceiling outlet. Where there is no ceiling point at all, Fungo sits directly on the table and throws its light straight down.

Hanging height and shade choice

75–90 cm (30–35 in) from the tabletop to the bottom of the shade. Tinted glass — amber, smoke, bottle green — hides the bulb and is more comfortable to sit under than clear glass at this height; clear glass sparkles but wants a frosted bulb.
