Clear glass is the brightest Riva and the most neutral. Nothing tints the light on its way out, so the wall behind stays the colour it actually is — useful in a room where the paint or the plaster is the point, and where a warm shade would throw everything off.

With a clear shade the bulb is visible, so choose the bulb with some care: a frosted or opal LED will keep the fitting comfortable to sit beside, a clear filament bulb will make it sparkle and harden the shadows.
