Fiume is three watts of warm light aimed exactly at a page and nowhere else. The gooseneck holds whatever shape you bend it into, so the beam can be set once to fall on a book held at your own reading height and then left alone for years.
It has its own switch on the body, which matters more than it sounds: you can turn it off without reaching for a wall plate, and the person beside you is not lit at all. In brass it suits a headboard in wood or upholstered linen.
