The same glass globe on a matte black stem, and a completely different fixture for it. Black hardware disappears against a dark ceiling and draws a hard graphic line against a white one — the globe appears to float, with only a hairline of metal above it.
This is the version for rooms with black window frames, dark joinery or steel: it repeats a line that is already in the room rather than introducing a new metal.
